COENZYME Q10

Deficiency

Causes

It is generally assumed that normal synthesis by the body and a varied diet provides sufficient coenzyme Q10 for healthy individuals (58).

Decreased plasma levels of coenzyme Q10 have been observed in individuals with diabetes, cancer, and congestive heart failure, and in people taking lipid-lowering medications (see Safety).

Genetic defects of coenzyme Q10 synthesis appear to be rare because only very few cases have been reported in medical literature.

Symptoms

No coenzyme Q10 deficiency symptoms have been reported in the general population.
