VITAMIN B5 // PANTOTHENIC ACID

Supply Situation

There are only limited data on the pantothenic acid requirements available. National nutrition surveys in some European countries have shown that the average mean dietary pantothenic acid intakes for adults are 4 –7 mg/day, with a range of 3–12 mg/day (13).

In the U.S., large national nutritional surveys were unable to estimate vitamin B5 intake due to the lack of data on the pantothenic acid content of food. Smaller studies estimated average daily intakes of pantothenic acid to be from 4 to 6 mg/day in adults (1, 24).
